Fritanga Monimbo, a notable Nicaraguan restaurant in Miami-Dade County, was recently issued an emergency closure order following an inspection by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation. The restaurant, located at 13710 SW 56 Street in Miami, Florida, was cited for a total of 30 violations, including 10 high-priority infractions on September 10, state records showed.

While the restaurant was initially ordered to close, a follow-up inspection on September 11 revealed that the necessary corrective measures had been implemented, allowing for its reopening. However, four violations were still found during this subsequent inspection.

The inspection on September 10 indicated 10 high-priority, three intermediate, and 17 basic violations.

High-priority violations included live roach activity, with multiple sightings in the kitchen area and near food preparation surfaces. Time and temperature management issues were noted for various foods.

Employees were also observed handling food without proper hand washing after touching personal items or uncovered body areas.

Intermediate violations involved unsuitable hand washing practices and non-functioning soap and paper towel dispensers.

Meanwhile, basic violations ranged from mold in the ice machine to soiled surfaces and equipment throughout the kitchen.

Fritanga Monimbo, part of a local chain known for Nicaraguan classics, holds a 3.5-star rating from 385 Google reviews. The recent inspection highlights the need for continued food safety practices in restaurants to protect the locals and visiting customers.

    High Priority Violations:

    • Live roach activity
    • Temperature control issues for potentially unsafe foods
    • Unsuitable employee hygiene practices
    • Inadequate cleaning of food-contact surfaces
