Marion County, Florida, prepares for Hurricane Milton

Residents across Marion County, Florida, are making final preparations as Hurricane Milton approaches, according to WCJB 20 News. The storm, expected to affect the region starting Wednesday, has initiated mandatory evacuation orders for more than 15 counties, including Marion County.

Officials are particularly encouraging residents in mobile homes to seek safer shelter, while several residents have already decided to seek cover in other counties.

As announced earlier this week, school officials announced closures for the remainder of the week in response to the storm's arrival. This decision allows families more time to prepare for the severe weather conditions ahead.

Meanwhile, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported improved roadway conditions compared to earlier this week. Officials noted that additional lane space is now available on major highways, including I-75, I-4, and Alligator Alley, facilitating smoother evacuations.
