A 2-Year-Old Child Drowns in Pompano Beach, Florida Pool

A sad incident occurred in Pompano Beach on Thursday, October 10, when a two-year-old child drowned in a residential pool, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) news release. The BSO Homicide Unit acknowledged it is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event.

According to the BSO news release, Broward Regional Communications received a call shortly after noon reporting a possible drowning at a home located in the 1600 block of Northeast First Avenue. BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue promptly responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that the child's mother had discovered the young victim unresponsive in the pool. Family members immediately took action, removing the child from the water and initiating CPR. Deputies then took over life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived.

The child was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where, sadly, medical professionals pronounced her dead. BSO's Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to the location and were conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

    Water Safety Reminder

This unfortunate event serves as a strong reminder of the importance of water safety, especially for young children. The BSO notes that drowning is the leading cause of injury-related death for children under five years old.
