South Niagara Hospital construction site passes one-year milestone
It’s been just over one year since shovels went in the ground to start building the new South Niagara Hospital. Official say to date, progress is significant on the five-year construction project, which will end with the region having a state-of-the-art hospital. The excavation for the foundation and basement level is complete, with over 1250 steel piles inserted into the bedrock to support the foundation. Elevator shafts and stairwells are beginning to take shape, and most site services, including waterlines, stormwater, and sanitary sewers, are finished.
Fluoride Treatments On Track to Return to Buffalo Water
Within the next few weeks or months, the water coming out of taps in the city of Buffalo will once again have fluoride in it. Recently, a diver went into the river near the Colonel Ward Pumping Station to begin the process of preparing the city’s water system to once again be fluoridated. The diver completed a disinfection process and installed a flow meter into a 90” treated water conduit, which will “measure the treated water flow rates and help determine the proper amount of added fluoride during treatment,” the city said.
