M/I Homes, a developer based in Columbus, Ohio, plans to build 300 homes off of Stage Coach Road in Gastonia.

According to M/I Homes Division President George Schulmeyer, the development will be made up entirely of what they call “smart series” homes.

Each home in the Boulder Ridge community will be 3-4 bedrooms with three bathrooms and a two-car garage.

The developer will build the homes in one of six different layouts, each of which includes a 40-foot home on a 50-foot plot of land, he said.

Shulmeyer said the homes are designed to be as affordable as possible, and the expected cost is in the high $300,000s, though no prices have been confirmed.

“We’re watching the market so … that could change,” he said.

The company is already developing the land, and plans to build homes and begin selling by the end of 2025.

According to Schulmeyer, the company is also looking for other development opportunities in the area.
