GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A North Carolina veteran received the ultimate gift Friday.

Former U.S. Army Sgt. Peter Clark and his wife Kelly are the recipients of a mortgage-free home.

Upon seeing their home for the first time, the Clarks were filled with emotion and excitement. They’re now residents of 1776 Gastonia.

“It was incredible, it’s all for me,” said Clark.

What’s behind the startling spike in Gaston County youth overdoses?

That excitement only growing. As the keys to their new home were delivered by Navy SEALs who skydived the keys down to them.

“I never thought it would ever happen,” Clark continued. “Never dreamed it. One day my wife made a call, and somebody called back and said, ‘you got the house.’”

The home was made possible through a joint collaboration between Building Homes for Heroes, Lowe’s and the 1776 community.
