Rivers Running Low; No Drought Help Until Next Week
WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Hot weather returns early next week and the next threat of rain is from a frontal system during midweek. HEAT/DROUGHT: While afternoon temperatures this weekend will hit the upper 80s, expect two days of 90-degree weather Monday and Tuesday. The hot, dry weather will allow drought to expand in coverage across our region. Watering the garden will be a necessity through next week.

Elkview man sentenced to prison in connection to 2023 shooting, prosecutors say
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — An Elkview man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection to a shooting that occurred in 2023, prosecutors say. Robert Justin Lowers, 38, pled guilty in late May to charges of unlawful wounding and two counts of endangerment after he shot his spouse, Sara Lowers, 37, in the arm in October 2023, according to the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney.

FORT KNOX, Ky. (WTAP) - The U.S. Army Human Resources Command Public Affairs Office announced that the remains of a World War II soldier will be buried in Paynesville, W.Va. The remains of U.S. Army Pfc. Mose E. Vance, a soldier killed during WWII, will be interred at Vance Cemetery in Paynesville, W.Va., on July 20.
