Parts of southeast Wisconsin saw heavy rain and storms Monday evening as the northern edge of a line of storms across the Midwest pushed east. Those storms dropped a lot of rain in Kenosha County and the surrounding area with over 3" of rain in the city of Kenosha leading to brief flooding. other areas, especially north of I-94 got around a quarter inch of rain or less.

Viroqua Alderman Dave Tryggestad steps down, Mayor names replacement
VIROQUA, Wis. – Long time Viroqua Alderman Dave Tryggestad announced through a letter to the city council last month that he was stepping down as Ward 1 Alderman. Tryggestad has served as a representative for Ward 1 a couple of times over the years. Tryggestad was appointed in the council by then Mayor Larry Fanta in September of 2003 and and served until he resigned in December of 2011. He served again after being elected to the council in April of 2019 until his resignation on in June of this year. Tryggestad’s current term runs though April of 2025.
Five area Lions Clubs raise and donate nearly $11,000 to La Crosse Area Children’s Miracle Network and two local food pantries
VIROQUA, Wis. – Five Lions Clubs in our area including Coon Valley, Viroqua, St. Joseph Ridge, Cashton, and Westby clubs recently sponsored their 17th annual Lions Golf Tournament at the Viroqua Hills Golf Course. Together the five clubs raised money to donate to the La Crosse Area Children’s Miracle Network and two local food pantries.
Udelhoven places in Top 10 at SkillsUSA Nationals
The 2024 National SkillsUSA Competition took place in Atlanta, Georgia on June 24–28. 17,000 registered participants attended, 6,500 individuals and 115 different career competitions took place. Andrew Udelhoven (pictured) represented Wauzeka-Steuben by participating in the opening ceremonies on Monday, June 24. On Tuesday, June 25 Andrew took a written test. The next day, the carpentry participants took an industry tour and were able to see the large amount of vendors in the Georgia World Congress Center. Then the carpentry competition started at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, which finished at about 4:30 p.m. Udelhoven received a Skills Points Certificate in Carpentry. NWS: EF1 tornado confirmed in Grant County
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The National Weather Service in La Crosse confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in Kieler in Grant County on Monday night. The tornado was estimated to have been on the ground for 0.3 miles in the area of County Road H and County Road HHH. Wind speeds were estimated to be 90 miles per hour.
Motorcycle And Truck Collide Causing Injury
On 07/13/2024, a motorcycle collided with a truck on the Hwy 151 exit 8 overpass in the Village of Dickeyville, as reported to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. Gary Helbing, 62, was riding his orange 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Highway 61 when Earl Ludwig, 72, in a red 2013 Ford F150, pulled out into Helbing’s path from the off ramp, resulting in a collision. Despite Helbing’s efforts to avoid the crash, he hit the driver’s side of Ludwig’s truck and suffered severe injuries, needing assistance from witnesses at the scene before being taken to the hospital.
