Authorities: Propane leak at Milton Propane contained with no harm done
MILTON — A leak of liquid propane triggered a 10-hour evacuation around Milton Propane, 3992 Vincent St., on Monday, Lakeside Fire and Rescue said. No injuries were reported from the leak. When responders got to the site, a cloud of liquid propane vapor was being driven to the south by prevailing winds, according to a news release. Milton Propane leak prompts closures as emergency crews attend to situation
MILTON – A propane gas leak at Milton Propane has led to several roadway closures in the Milton area. A call came in around 5:19 a.m. for the leak. Shortly after, Lakeside Fire closed affected roadways, including Highway Y between Townline Road and High Street, Vincent Street from Highway Y to High Street, High Street from Vincent Street to Elm Street and Elm Street from High Street to Vincent Street. Residents have been asked to stay away from the scene. The Tails n Trails Dog Park has been closed due to the leak. The Milton School District released a statement Monday morning, saying that summer school classes continued as scheduled. Assessed damage from Janesville tornado surpasses $20 million
JANESVILLE — The estimate of structural damage the EF-2 tornado that struck the south side of the city on June 22 caused has surpassed $20 million, a city official said. Nick Faust, assistant to the city manager, said that estimate was as of Thursday with about 300 structures damaged. Both figures might change as the city continues to assess damages. Janesville was the site of one of eight tornadoes across southern Wisconsin on June 22. There were estimated wind speeds of 115 mph in the Janesville tornado. It was on the ground for 11 minutes from 7:42-7:53 p.m. The outbreak of tornadoes spanned from Grant County on the Iowa state line all the way to Kenosha County. Two additional twisters touched down in Walworth County, one that tracked from the town of Delavan to Williams Bay and another that tracked from just east of Fontana to over Lake Como.
