Ayden Goll is used to having the game in his hands on the basketball court for the Milton Red Hawks.

He found himself in that position Thursday on a baseball diamond in Watertown. And like he did time and again on the hardwood last winter, he produced the goods against the Goslings.

With two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, he sent an 0-2 delivery from Eliot Roethle back up the middle for a two-run single, breaking a scoreless tie.

His basketball teammate Karson Lueck retired Watertown in order in the bottom of the seventh, making a winner out of starting pitcher Broden Jackson against a team that had just beaten Milton on Tuesday night.

Jackson struck out five in six scoreless innings with two hits and four walks.

Roethle was just as effective for Watertown, striking out eight Red Hawks over 6 2/3 innings, but Milton finally got to him in the final frame.

Jordan Bundy started the rally with a double to left, then Charlie Kober got hit by a pitch to put two on with nobody out.

Jackson executed a sacrifice bunt to put the runners on second and third and up his team's chances of scoring in the inning.

Carson Biddick worked a walk to load the bases after a strikeout for out No. 2, then Goll stepped up and got the winning hit. It was his second single on the day.

The Red Hawks are scheduled to play five games in the final week of the regular season, including three against Big Eight competition.

They're set to play at Verona on Friday (they lost to the Wildcats and ace Jack DeTienne to start the season), then will host Sun Prairie West at 4:45 p.m. Monday, the first of three consecutive days with a game scheduled.

Milton and Jefferson are slated to play each other at UW-Whitewater on Tuesday, then the Red Hawks and Janesville Craig will make up a postponed game at Riverside Park at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Milton closes the season with a road game at Burlington on May 24.
