No surprises here: Janesville Craig routs winless Madison La Follette to wrap up Big Eight play

Drayton Lou and Janesville Craig kept Madison La Follette winless Thursday at Warner Park in Madison.

Lou struck out 11 Lancers, and the Cougars took advantage of nine La Follette walks, four hit batters and 11 wild pitches to win 10-0 in six innings.

Craig also stole 10 bases.

“When we got on base, we took our extra bases and did what we needed to do to score runs early,” Cougars coach Josh Shere said.

He said Lou hit another gear on the mound late in the game to finish things off.

“There was a moment where he went right at guys,” he said. “He found a different zone to get to where he was just pumping strikes, which is what you need to do against a team like La Follette.”

The Cougars have one more regular-season game left, a nonconference game at Westosha Central. The Falcons are the No. 1 seed in the same sectional Craig is part of.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of competition we might see in the postseason,” Shere said. “It’ll be interesting to see what they’re like as a team.”
