    Milton honors military members who made ultimate sacrifice in ceremony at Veterans Park

    MILTON — Milton residents gathered at the Milton Area Veteran’s Memorial at Veteran’s Park Monday morning to honor those who gave their lives in military conflict.

    Mayor Anissa Welch began with updates on Sunday night’s weather, sharing that there were no substantial injuries reported.

    The remainder of her speech, as well as the rest of the ceremony, honored veterans in attendance and men and women who served in the military who gave their lives in service.

    Alderperson Eric Stockman spoke at the event, opening and closing it as well as introducing Savannah O’Neal for the national anthem and Bill Whitford for the invocation.

    Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts performed the Red, White and Blue ceremony before Welch and Milton High School student Maxwell Olson gave speeches.

    “Taps” was performed by Carson McPhearson following the 21-gun salute.
