North Pontiac Drive to close for reconstruction starting Tuesday

JANESVILLE — North Pontiac Drive, stretching from Holiday Drive to Humes Road, will be closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday, Aug. 20. The road is expected to remain closed until approximately Friday, Oct. 11.

Despite the closure, businesses within the affected area, including those accessed from Pontiac Place, will stay open. Local traffic with destinations inside the work zone will be accommodated. To avoid the construction, drivers are advised to use North Lexington Drive to reach Hy-Vee, Taco Bell, Scooters and businesses in the Market Place plaza.

Through traffic without a destination within the construction area will be encouraged to use North Lexington Drive or Milton Avenue as alternate routes.

Sections of North Pontiac Drive under active construction may be impassable during the work.

The road reconstruction is part of the City of Janesville’s annual street rehabilitation program.
