JANESVILLE — Fourth Ward residents will have the opportunity to dispose of unwanted large items during the upcoming Large Item Pick-Up Day on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Residents are encouraged to place their large items on the curb beginning Friday, Sept. 6, through 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7. Trucks will be circulating through the neighborhood that morning to collect items and transport them to the landfill.

Eligible large items are defined as those too large to fit in a standard garbage bin but manageable for two people to lift. Electronic items and tires will not be accepted during this pick-up event. For residents with multiple items that need removal, assistance in connecting with a local junk hauler is available.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with the event. Ten routes throughout the neighborhood will be covered, and volunteers with trucks or trailers are especially encouraged to participate.

The day will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Fourth Ward Park, 410 W. Racine St., with the goal of completing the pick-up by lunchtime.

This service is available by the Fourth Ward Neighborhood Action Team.
