    'Stars, Stripes and Fair Delights.' Walworth County Fair starts Wednesday

    ELKORN — It’s almost time for the last local county fair of the season.

    The 175th Walworth County Fair, with the theme of “Stars, Stripes and Fair Delights,” is Wednesday, Aug. 28 through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.

    Opening ceremonies are at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The fairgrounds are located at 411 E. Court St., in Elkhorn. General parking is free.

    Information about the fair, including a full daily schedule of events, is at walworthcountyfairgrounds.com.

    General admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Children under age 5 are free. Season passes are $45 for adults and $15 for children ages 5-12. A lifetime pass is $450.

    Special daily admission specials and themes include:

    Wednesday, Aug. 28: Honorary Marshal Day and Senior Citizens Day, $8 admission for those age 62 and olderThursday, Aug. 29: Senior Citizens Day, $8 admission for those age 62 and olderFriday, Aug. 30: Tanis Construction Day and and Senior Citizens Day, $8 admission for those age 62 and olderSaturday, Aug. 31: Kunes Auto Group/RV DaySunday, Sept. 1: Edge Broadband Family Fun DayMonday, Sept. 2: Demo Day

    Carnival

    The carnival, presented by North American Midway Entertainment, is open daily. Hours are 3-11 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 12-11 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday; and 12-8 p.m. Monday. Daily wristbands are $35 if bought on the fairgrounds. Pre-sales wristbands are $30 until midnight Aug. 28, if purchased online at authentigate.tickets/store/NAME/1124.

    Daily family and kids’ events

    There are daily events for families and kids scheduled throughout fair week. Events include a barnyard adventure show, a magician, a chainsaw artist, a prehistoric dinosaur adventure, machinery and construction experiences, story time, make and take crafts, and a butterfly release.

    Additional activities will focus on honeybees, pet nutrition, mocktail making, pond construction and koi fish care, tea gardens, stamping, service dogs, flower farming, sour dough making, canning, growing herbs, drying flowers, tasting fresh-picked food, biodiversity, stained glass and fused glass.
