Janesville Craig golfers handily win Big 8 triangular

SUN PRAIRIE — Janesville Craig’s girls golf team shot 382 to win Wednesday’s Big 8 Conference triangular hosted by Sun Prairie East at Prairie Pines Golf Course by 51 shots.

Craig’s Brynn Sikich shot 86 to win medalist honors by six strokes and the Cougars’ Alexis Hanson carded a 98 to place third.

Ellie Klein and Kate Wixom both shot 99 to round out the team’s tally.

“Our girls are really starting the season strong,” Janesville Craig girls golf coach Stefanie Hanson said. “We have the most numbers I think we have ever had with 18 girls going out this year. We have a ton of talent and depth.

“There are 10 of our 18 that have hit the varsity roster at some point in their high school career already. I’m looking forward to some really great things happening this season.”

The Cougars compete in an invitational at Blackwolf Run in Kohler on Tuesday.

Team scores: Janesville Craig 382, Sun Prairie East 433, Madison Memorial 499.
