JANESVILLE— As part of its opening and ribbon cutting Friday in Janesville, a new Burlington Store presented Adams Elementary with a $5,000 gift.

Adam Nass, the Janesville store manager, said it felt good to be open after months of preparation. The new store is near T.J. Maxx, Home Goods and Old Navy on Deerfield Drive.

“It’s exciting to be here in the community. I think we’ll offer some new values and a different options,” he said.

He said it also felt awesome to give the $5,000 to Adams Elementary School. He said the company typically participates in the Adopt a Classroom program when it opens a store.

“We’re excited to be here and be part of the Janesville community,” Nass said.

Adams Elementary School Dana Simmons said she found out about the coming honor in early June.

She said that the money will be divided up equally amongst 28 teachers, to support their classroom projects and initiatives.

“We will be able to provide more services and programs to be flexible to meet the needs of students of all ages.”

“Thank you to Burlington,” she said. “It is exciting to have a partnership with a company that wants to be a part of the community.

She said it was fun to tell students and parents about the gift right before school starts on Tuesday.

She said that the teachers will be able to choose items for their classrooms from an online store.

The store was full of people Friday, shopping for back-to-school clothing, housing items and new shoes

“We’ve been counting down the days,” a woman said as she entered the store and grabbed a cart, as store workers handed out coupons.

Jennifer Torres and her daughter were looking for back-to-school clothes. She said she was super excited to find out that Burlington was opening.

“I love the prices and it came just in time for back-to-school,” Torres said. “It is in a great area right next to T.J. Maxx, Old Navy and other clothing stores.”
