Blackhawk Technical College to host open house for new Public Safety Center
JANESVILLE — Blackhawk Technical College will host a ribbon cutting and open house this week for its new Public Safety Center. The event is Thursday, Sept. 26, from 4-7 p.m. The Public Safety Center is at the college’s Central Campus, 6004 County G, Janesville. The ribbon cutting ceremony is at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Public Safety Center. The Public Safety Center is the final project of the Public Safety and Transportation Complex, which was supported through a $32 million referendum approved by voters in Rock and Green counties in November 2020. FBI dismisses Rock County school threats as hoaxes

Beloit man charged with battery in jail confrontation over noise
BELOIT — A 34-year-old Beloit man is facing a felony charge after being involved in an incident at the Rock County Jail where allegedly three inmates beat up another inmate. Adam Grayson Lee Wright was charged with battery by a prisoner, which is a Class H felony. If convicted, Wright could face a sentence of up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000. According to a criminal complaint, on Sept. 9, Wright and two other inmates attacked another inmate in a cell. The reported cause of the altercation was that the three were upset with the victim slamming a shower door. Wright is scheduled to appear in Rock County Circuit Court on Sept. 24.
