Fishing for lunker bass
From my earliest years I’ve been a fishing addict, a rod in my hand anywhere at any time for anything with fins or scales. Shiners or suckers in Tuna Creek, native trout in the area’s numerous tributaries, no logging roads then, you had to walk. Ponds, lakes, the Allegheny before the dam. If there was water, I was ready to fish.

Commentary: Public libraries do more than serve communities, they help build them
I've always had a deep love for libraries. I remember the excitement every time our family walked into a library, thrilled by all the books. When I was hired by the Olean Public Library, it felt both surreal and serendipitous. I was going to be the real-life Belle and skate around on ladders putting books away! However, it turned out to be quite the opposite. While I do work with books, I have found that the real focus is working with the community.

Della Moore: Local Cultural Icon
With so much talk about octogenarians in the news, please meet an Olean gal by the name of Della Moore, an 85-year-old bundle of energy whom I defy you to keep up with. Although she was close to her own parents, Robert Lee and Opense Patten, her Aunt Gladys and three sisters, a brother and a niece who was like a sister, she never hesitated and immediately adopted Olean as her home.
