Olean Man Arrested on Weapons Charges
An Olean man was arrested on weapons charges in Allegany this weekend. 59-year-old Donald M White was charged Saturday afternoon with felony criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction, as well as misdemeanor menacing. White was released on their own recognizance.

This is the annual Bark Peelers’ Festival, where volunteers step into authentic nineteenth-century roles—spinner, blacksmith, camp cook, and laundry washer—to demonstrate life in an authentic lumber camp.

A fundraising drive is underway and the community is rallying for the family of the 15-year-old Belfast Central School student who drowned in the Genesee River. Richard Harvey Elliott IV, better known as Ricky, died June 20 when he went swimming with another youth in the Allegany County Town of Caneadea.
Olean Man Jailed on Warrant
An Olean man was arrested this weekend on a warrant out of the Town of Little Valley Court. The Cattaraugus County Sherriff’s office reports that 19-year-old Dontae M Weakfall-Wright was arrested Saturday morning, and remanded to Cattaraugus County Jail on $100 bail, pending further court proceedings.

Jill Dunbar, 92, formerly of Wellsville
Jill Dunbar of Holland, NY passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, NY at the age of 92. She was born on October 29, 1931 in Wellsville, NY and was a daughter of the late Clifford and Ethel (Carlin) Stocum. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holland and was a devoted Christian. She previously taught Sunday School and served God for many years.
