Tuesday, 10:03 p.m., no injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Higgins Avenue and Main Street. A vehicle operated by an 18-year-old Olean resident was making a left turn when it reportedly struck a vehicle operated by Daniel N. Wellsville woman sentenced for 2023 arson
BELMONT — A Wellsville woman was sentenced to state prison for her role in a May 2023 apartment building fire. Allegany County District Attorney Ian Jones reported that Jessica L. Morrison of Wellsville was sentenced on Thursday to eight years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision. She had originally been charged with second-degree arson, a class B felony; and first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal mischief, both class D felonies. She pleaded guilty in April.
First Callahan Memorial Golf Tournament a success
The first annual Ryan Callahan Memorial Golf Tournament was held last Saturday at Bartlett Country Club in Olean. The event was created in remembrance of Callahan, a 2001 Olean High graduate and former Huskies golf team member who died unexpectedly in April. And by any measure, it was a success. Thirty-four foursomes totaling 136 golfers played in the tournament, which far exceeded organizers’ expectations.
