Tenth annual Alfred State Golf Tournament a success
The winning team of Raymie Auman, Jordan Wonderling, Nick Biedakiewicz, and Brett Migliore shot a 59 to win the Alfred State Drive for the Development Fund Golf Tournament. Thirty-four teams enjoyed gorgeous weather at the 10th annual Pioneers Drive for the Development Fund golf tournament at the Wellsville Country Club. The event presented by Mach Architecture raised more than $29,000 in cash and gifts in kind for Alfred State.
Preliminary Hearing Held for Alleged Bank Robber
The preliminary hearing for the Olean man accused of robbing the Hamlin bank in Eldred was held this morning. 39-year-old Edwin J McPeak Jr. stands accused of robbery, fleeing a police officer, theft, terroristic threats, and various traffic violations after allegedly stealing a City of Olean truck and robbing two banks.

Hornell Partners for Growth (HPG) is excited to announce its latest community event. “Thursdays at the Square” are taking place at Union Square Park in Hornell. For 9 Thursdays starting June 27, excluding July 4th, we will bring you a different form of entertainment, Live Music, DJ Kids Party, Karaoke, & Puppet Show. Food & Craft Vendors will be set up and the City fountain will be on from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM! Each week HPG will also provide FREE kids activities and free Ice-pops, while supplies last. We’ll also have plenty of chairs set out for relaxation and a designated area for those who want to dance and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Anyone interested in setting up as a vendor should reach out to HPG at 607-324-9786. We are also looking for a farmer to set up for those unable to make daytime markets in the area.

Brenda was born on September 10, 1938, in Angelica, New York, the daughter of the late James and Onalee Phippen Graham. She married the love of her life, James Brown Warner, on July 13, 1963, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Angelica.
AU Ties Program Record With 138 Saxons Earning Spring '24 E8 President's List Honors
ALFRED, NY – The Spring 2024 Empire 8 President's List was released on Monday morning, which featured a school record-tying 138 Saxons that had a term GPA of 3.75 or higher. There were 15 Alfred University teams that earned recognition with having cumulative team GPA's of 3.20 or higher. The women's alpine skiing team led the way with a 3.92 team GPA, while women's basketball, women's cross country, women's lacrosse, women's soccer and women's tennis all eclipsed a 3.50 or higher team GPA last spring.
