Martos, Snyder highlight consistent Lizards performance in eight-inning win over Oilers
SALAMANCA — The Salamanca Lizards, in eight innings of work, got the best of the Olean Oilers in the final regular season matchup between the sides. The 11-1 Salamanca victory came as a result of a complete team performance. The Lizards got an outstanding, full-game effort out of starting pitcher Josh Martos (Jamestown Community College) and were able to keep their bats consistent with an early spark.
Ulysses Old Home Day offers fun, community
The little borough of Ulysses turned out in a big way for Ulysses Old Home Day on Saturday, July 13. Craft and food vendors lined Main Street and community groups held fundraisers and raffles. The highlight of the day was the parade at noon, which featured antique vehicles, the Tri-Town Volunteer Fire Company, a contingent of patriotic bicyclists and several local organizations.

Hornell Woman Arrested for Welfare Fraud in Steuben Co.
HORNELL, N.Y. (WENY) -- Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on July 8, 2024, Deputies from the Steuben County Sheriff's Officer arrested Shauna M. Goodwin, age 42, of Dennis Avenue Extension in Hornell. It is alleged that from August 2023 to May 2024, Goodwin knowingly and with intent to defraud, presented false documents to the Steuben County Department of Social Services.

The following individuals are scheduled to appear in Elkland District Court, judge James Edgcomb presiding. Dylan James VanSickle, 32, of Sabinsville was charged by Westfield Borough Police with unsworn falsification and violation of the firearms act-sale/transfer. VanSickle allegedly attempted to purchase a firearm. VanSickle answered “No” to Question 21 on Nov. 13, 2023 and the purchase was denied.

Hornell Man Is Charged, After Alleged Theft In South Corning
Steuben County Sheriff reports that 23 year old Richard Snyder of Madison Avenue, Hornell, is charged with 2nd degree grand larceny. The sheriff says a $77,000 excavator was stolen from Great American Excavators in South Corning and that Snyder is the suspect. Snyder was arraigned and released.

HINSDALE — Main Street Park in Hinsdale was filled with people on Saturday, all gathered to witness the unveiling and dedication of the town’s new Vietnam War memorial. The memorial now stands as a forever symbol of recognition for those who served the United States during the Vietnam conflict.
