Sad news: Wellsville man dies after ATV accident
On July 4, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., State Police were called to County Road 38 in the town of Alma for a report of an ATV accident. An investigation determined that the driver of the ATV, Jesse M. Bestine, 26, along with one passenger, Zachary J. Barnett, 25, both of Wellsville, were traveling east on County Road 38, when Bestine swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle causing the ATV to overturn several times.

The Hornell Steamers swept a pair from the Salamanca Lizards on Friday evening. The Steamers won the opener 14-7 and the nightcap 5-1. A shooting at a party Wednesday night near Wellsville led to the arrest of a Pennsylvania man on multiple charges, state police in Amity reported. Gregory S. Miller, 54, of Penndel, near Philadelphia, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree criminal use of a weapon and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is held in Allegany County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
