Dormitory Authority of the State of New York Issues $25,175,000 in Bonds for Olean City School District
OLEAN, NY — The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York issued approximately $956.8 million in low-cost, tax-exempt bonds in June to 69 school districts, including $25,175,000 for the Olean City School District. “Helping our students thrive means giving them the tools, the facilities, and the infrastructure they need to succeed in the classroom,” Gov. Steamers Friday Night Double Header Scores (Steamers Saturday Game Was Rained Out)

BELMONT — A woman accused of setting a Wellsville apartment building on fire in 2023 was sentenced to state prison on Thursday. The Allegany County District Attorney’s Office reported that Jessica L. Morrison of Wellsville was sentenced to eight years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

OLEAN — The YMCA of the Twin Tiers and SUNY Jamestown Community College are partnering to offer child care on JCC’s Cattaraugus County Campus in downtown Olean. The JCC YMCA Early Learning Center is scheduled to open this fall with the capacity to serve up to 56 children.
Police reports 6/27/24
Tuesday, 10:03 p.m., no injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Higgins Avenue and Main Street. A vehicle operated by an 18-year-old Olean resident was making a left turn when it reportedly struck a vehicle operated by Daniel N. MacDonald, 61, of 608 Washington St. The youth was subsequently cited for improper lane change, an infraction.
First Callahan Memorial Golf Tournament a success
The first annual Ryan Callahan Memorial Golf Tournament was held last Saturday at Bartlett Country Club in Olean. The event was created in remembrance of Callahan, a 2001 Olean High graduate and former Huskies golf team member who died unexpectedly in April. And by any measure, it was a success. Thirty-four foursomes totaling 136 golfers played in the tournament, which far exceeded organizers’ expectations.
