The NY State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air quality health advisory for NYC

New York City — In 2023 when Canada's wildfires traveled south of the border, MarketWatch ranked New York City number one for having "the worst air quality in the world right now."

Almost a year after the wildfires, another alert about the city's dangerous air quality has resurfaced.

On Tuesday, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued an air quality alert for ozone levels in New York City.

According to the city’s Department of Health, “Children, older adults and people with heart or breathing conditions should avoid strenuous and prolonged outdoor activities.”

The alert will be in effect in New York City until 11 p.m.

For more info, New Yorkers can call 1800-535-1345 toll-free.
