NYC has now been approved for a record-breaking budget

New York City — On Friday, like two exhausted boxers seconds after hearing the final bell ring, Mayor Eric Adams and City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams finally shook hands.

City Hall served as the boxing ring while the two combatants celebrated their agreement with a handshake.

After months of heated back-and-forth exchanges, not to mention endless arguing during backroom budget negotiations, the two Adamses — finally embraced.

They even cracked airplane jokes as the sense of relief finally set in.

When the historic "handshake deal" is compared to the city's previous spending blueprint, the main difference is this: the latest "blueprint" assumes almost a billion dollars more in revenue.

“Pilots are not defined by the turbulence they go through, they’re defined by how well they land the plane,” Mayor Adams said, capping off the record-breaking day.
