According to reports, the West Nile virus has been found in all five boroughs this summer

New York City — "The best defense is a good offense," goes the saying. Starting this week, the city plans to launch an attack against those pesky mosquitos.

The New York City Health Department plans to spray parts of Manhattan to reduce the risk of West Nile virus.

To combat the potential for contracting the virus, pesticide application is scheduled to start from 10:30 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday in parts of Manhattan.

As for Queens, pesticide application starts Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Thankfully the Health Department says risks to humans and pets are low, although they've advised residents to stay indoors during the spraying.
