Apple is surprised by the initial lackluster demand for its latest iPhone

Yesterday I asked a friend if she had plans to get the new iPhone.

She scratched her head. "Wait... what?" she said. "I just bought my iPhone 15 Pro Max last month. I think I'll pass on this one."

Indeed, "I think I'll pass on this one" seems to be the response shared by many regarding Apple's latest star-studded phone.

So popular have iPhones become that, in 2023 alone, Apple's sales of the phone surpassed $$200,000,000,000. In other words, over half the money Apple makes comes from selling iPhones.

Yet surprising to many, demand for the latest iPhone is so underwhelming that Apple employees can already buy the new models with their employee discount.

Employees usually have to wait weeks after the phone's release to cash in on such perks.

"These device updates have gotten boring and predictable," Erich Gros commented on a LinkedIn News article, which details the iPhone's surprisingly slow start.

"It's not surprising to see that the iPhone 16 is showing slower than hoped for sales," Eric Bergstrom added. "There isn't a new form factor or compelling enough software enhancements to entice the masses to by a $1000 phone."

Come out with real change, just making tweaks to the camera and superficial stuff on the phone doesn’t get it.
