Starting in 2026, Californians will no longer be able to get plastic bags for groceries

In a few months, "paper or plastic" will no longer be an option for Californians.

In a landmark move, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law a loophole that allowed shoppers to buy bags made with thicker plastic.

The so-called "thicker plastic" supposedly "made them reusable and recyclable." But Gov. Newson and others weren't convinced.

All plastic bags will be banned at the checkout counter starting next year.

Customers who don’t bring their own bags will now be asked if they want a paper bag.

BS! Hawaii has a plastic bag ban already in effect. All shopping bags have to be reusable or made of biodegradable materials. Even restaurants take out food containers utensils cups and even straws have to follow those rules.
