Week 5 scouting report: Toledo football vs. Miami
Entering the season, Toledo-Miami was the game of the year in the Mid-American Conference. It’s still an outstanding matchup, but it lost some luster with Toledo’s loss at Western Kentucky and Miami’s 1-3 record. Still, when the MAC championship game kicks off in December, chances are this October meeting in the Glass Bowl will have made an impact. In the past, this game didn’t have nearly as much value. However, with no divisions in the MAC, it takes on added significance. And for Toledo, there’s another added element: revenge (and homecoming).

Seneca County health board plans to fight WIN Waste landfill expansion decision
FOSTORIA — The Seneca County Board of Health has unanimously agreed to appeal a recent Ohio Environmental Protection Agency decision that will allow the landfill operated by WIN Waste Innovations in Seneca County to be expanded by 94 acres. The board agreed at its Sept. 26 meeting to challenge the decision. The actual appeal hadn’t been filed as of Tuesday afternoon with the Environmental Review Appeals Commission, the state body with authority to overturn Ohio EPA decisions. But health board spokesman Erika Handru confirmed that the board’s filing would be made with that commission soon. Fostoria City Council and Seneca County Commissioners also have passed resolutions in support of the health board’s upcoming appeal.
