The California Enduro Series (CES) kicked off a few weeks ago in Georgetown, CA. Jake Keller took the top spot in the pro men’s section with Daisy James winning it in the pro women’s section.

    Here’s some highlights from Keller.

    And some from James.

Georgetown is located outside of Auburn, CA in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The trails in this area are known for being rocky, rugged, and somewhat unpredictable. The perfect storm for some good mountain biking.

The course was set in five stages with no shuttles or lifts, which means there was a whole lot of pedaling. It was 22-26 miles depending on your category with up to 4,000 vertical feet of elevation gained/dropped.

Pink Bike gave a full rundown of the course here .

Enduro mountain biking is special because competitors have to be able to ride in different styles. There’s flowy sections where you can keep your speed up, steep technical sections, big jumps, and dreaded uphill sections.

You’ll need the strength to handle your bike in long downhills, the stamina for lengthy sections, and the mental focus to keep you ready for the next twists and turns of the course.

The series continues through summer with the next stop further north at Mt. Shasta .

The rest of the series is as follows:

The CES is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to putting on world class enduro events across the state of California. CES provides the support for independent events and autonomous groups and clubs.

“CES sees a vibrant series of geographically diverse events ranging from entry-level events that can be planned as day trips, to epic big mountain events in remote settings. CES and each independent event is enthusiastically supported by riders, the bike industry, land managers, and the general public. All will embrace the evolution of the enduro format and the enduro athlete,” says their website .
