GEORGETOWN, S.C. (WCBD) — Georgetown residents could soon have another option when considering their next fast-food meal.

During Thursday night’s Georgetown City Council meeting, leaders held the first reading on bringing the popular Chick-fil-A franchise to the Waterfront District. The reading was approved unanimously.

Officials told News 2 that they were excited about the opportunities and benefits that fast-food restaurants would bring to the people in Georgetown.

When opened, the mobile truck will serve food six days a week, Monday through Saturday, at the former Georgetown City Hall. The next and final reading will be discussed in July at the city council meeting.

Officials said they hope to start serving customers in the late summer or early fall if approved.
