DECATUR -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Monday the promotion of Catherine Jordan to manager of the GBI’s Central Regional Crime Lab. Jordan will be responsible for the supervision of staff and others within the Central Crime Lab.

“Catherine has proven to be a leader in the crime lab and will continue to serve as a great example as the Central Regional Crime Lab manager,” GBI Director Chris Hosey said. “We can only benefit from the service of such a professional in their field.”

“Catherine is a well-respected leader in the crime lab,” Investigative Division Director Cleveland Miles said. “It is fitting to now promote her to the position of lab manager, where she can further accomplish the GBI mission and lead a team that provides the highest quality scientific services to the state of Georgia.”

Jordan began her career in firearms and toolmarks examination as a trainee with the Firearms & Toolmarks Section at GBI Headquarters in 2005. She later joined the GBI’s Western Regional Crime Lab after completing her training in January of 2007. In January of 2024, she joined the Central Regional Crime Lab as its assistant manager.

Jordan graduated from Georgia Tech with a bachelor of science degree in Chemical Engineering and from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2003 with a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry.

    She is from Ellaville.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation comprises four divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Laboratory, the Investigative Division, and the Legal Division. The GBI has more than 900 employees and a current budget of $147,482,036.
