CFN 2024 Preseason SEC Offensive Player of the Year
Jalen Milroe, QB Jr. Alabama: You're not wrong to put Georgia QB Carson Beck or Texas QB Quinn Ewers here - and we won't be shocked in any way if, say, QB Conner Weigman of Texas A&M becomes this year's IT guy in the SEC. But there's one key aspect to Milroe that projects ahead of all the others - Kalen DeBoer.
The DeBoer offense ripped it up at Fresno State with Jake Haener at the helm, and then Washington became an instant statistical show with Michael Penix Jr. becoming a superstar. As is Milroe loves to bomb away - to go along with his tremendous rushing ability - so get ready for something potentially amazing.
CFN 2024 Preseason SEC Defensive Player of the Year
Mykel Williams, DE Jr. Georgia: Call this WAY more of a projection than, say, edge rushing phenom James Pearce from Tennessee or Texas A&M's new pass rushing terror than Nic Scourton.
Williams has been fine so far - 46 tackles with nine sacks and 13 tackles for loss in his first two years. The belief is that he's about to raise his game up another notch into top five overall pick territory.
