Georgia County Has The 'Longest Life Expectancy' In The State

Life expectancy can vary depending on where you live and whether you have access to factors impacting health like quality medical care , or clean water and healthy food.

According to a list compiled by Stacker , Forsyth County was named the area with the longest life expectancy in all of Georgia, coming out on top of the 159 counties in the Peach State. The county, found in the northeastern region of the state, has an average life expectancy of 81.3 years, 5.2 years higher than the state average.

This is how Stacker determined its ranking of the counties with the longest life expectancy in the state:

"By delving into 2024 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute, Stacker identified the counties with the longest life expectancy in Georgia. Life expectancy measures the average number of years from birth a person can expect to live and is calculated based on the number of deaths in a given time period and the average number of people at risk of dying during that period. Counties with unreliable or insufficient data were excluded from the analysis. Mortality data came from the National Vital Statistics System."
