Gervais mom facing down difficult journey

A 33-year-old pediatric medical assistant who cares for two kids, a disabled-veteran husband and many pets is now in a life-changing battle.

Friends of Breanna Moyer shared with the Woodburn Independent that she was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and will be going through 20 weeks of chemotherapy. The Gervais Community Progress Team plans to focus heavily on helping Breanna when it hosts its annual community National Night Out this summer.

Meanwhile, Breanna's husband Thomas, who is an Air Force firefighting veteran, their son Brock, 15, and daughter Vyla, 5, will be supporting Breanna as she faces this new battle.

Breanna has often told her daughter: "It's okay to be scared, it means you're about to do something very brave." Now she says it’s her turn to live that important life lesson.

“I’d like to get as much awareness for this family as possible – because they are facing the impossible,” said Moyer-family friend Heather Legaso, who noted that most of the Gervais family’s support group lives in Texas. “I don’t want them to feel alone."
