A mom has been left furious after her 4-year-old daughter Burger King meal was "covered in blood" - and now needs monthly blood tests.

Tiffany Floyd had purchased her child a kids' meal consisting of a burger and fries at a branch of the popular fast food chain in Getzville, New York on Friday. The child had requested her food to come without ketchup so when she was handed the meal she was surprised her request had been ignored.

However, it wasn't until her mum took a closer inspection of the meal to discover the red splashes on her food were not tomato sauce, but blood. Horrified Tiffany immediately called the store and requested to speak to the manager who informed her that a cook had cut his hand earlier in the day.

She said on TikTok: "I gave her the bag to eat the food and I heard 'Mom I don't want ketchup', so I take the bag back thinking they've messed up our order and I look and see there is blood all over her bag, the hamburger, the toy, her fries, everything. While wearing plastic gloves. I instantly told her to spit out her food. She did have fries and a bit of her hamburger. And then I looked at my meal, and there was blood on mine too," she added.

"I called Burger King and the manager told me that somebody cut his hand and that if I came back he would give me a refund. I reached out to our local health department and they filed a report but there's not much more they can do,' Tiffany explained.

The video, which has since gone viral with over 3 million views, details Tiffany explaining how her daughter must now undergo monthly blood tests for an entire year to make sure she has not contracted any kind of bloodborne illness.

She revealed the Niagara County Department of Health called the Burger King location and had the manager confirm he had a worker cut their finger but 'didn't think they were bleeding that bad,' she added.

"This is a serious issue and now I have to wait a whole month to get my daughter tested for any blood issues", the furious mum said.

Hundreds of people also commented on her Facebook post where they said the incident was a lawsuit waiting to happen.

"Contact an attorney - minimally they'll get you a settlement to offset any medical testing costs etc. (also emotional distress) don't engage with Burger King further, attorney first"' suggested one. Another added: "That's a lawsuit.. bodily fluid of any kind on food should be considered a bio-hazard."

Burger King's corporate office has offered to pay for any medical expenses following the incident. "We did tell Burger King that medical expenses was not enough,' Tiffany said to the New York Post. "My daughter has not eaten since this and my anxiety is through the roof and what if my daughter needs professional help from this?"

Burger King has released a statement following the disturbing incident, it said: "We were deeply upset and concerned. We have been in contact with the Guest and are working with her to resolve this incident. This incident was the result of a team member in the restaurant who injured his finger, and upon noticing immediately stepped away.

"We closed the restaurant to retrain all the team members and hired an external company to complete a deep cleaning,' the company explained.

"We expect the restaurant to re-open Monday and are fully paying team members for any lost shifts during this temporary shut down.'
