A Geyserville estate owned by the family behind the Caesars Entertainment casino and hotel empire and Ferrari-Carano Winery is on the market for the first time in more than 40 years.

The Home Ranch, a nearly 60-acre compound located at 1499 Moody Lane, is listed at $7,975,000. It boasts a four-bedroom main residence, two-bedroom guesthouse, pool house, two-story barn, vineyards of Alexander Valley Chardonnay and dozens of olive trees.

Purchased in 1981 by Don and Rhonda Carano, co-owners of the Eldorado Hotel and Casino in Reno at the time, the property was the original location for the couple’s first wine label, Carano Cellars, which just a few years later became Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery.

While the couple built a wine empire in Sonoma County, they also expanded their casino empire, opening the Silver Legacy Resort Casino next door to the Eldorado in 1995 and acquiring Circus Circus Reno in 2015.

    Don Carano died in 2017.

In 2020, Eldorado acquired Caesars Entertainment and currently operates more than 50 casinos and hotels in Reno, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and throughout the country.

“Don and Rhonda Carano loved the privacy and convenience of the property and location,” wrote listing agent Stephanie Domenichelli of the Agency in an email. “The gardens and grounds allowed them to garden and entertain. Rhonda is an avid gardener and grew amazing produce on-site.”

According to the property listing, the Home Ranch’s amenities include an oversized steam shower, workout room, temperature-controlled wine cellar, detached office/art studio and outdoor dining and kitchen areas.

“The upper portion of the parcel allows for additional potential vineyard or possible house site,” Domenichelli wrote. “It has all the elements that someone could want in a Wine Country estate compound.”
