CAMP CREEK, WV (WVNS) — A Ghent man is making his television debut on the History Channel series Alone.

Contestants are dropped off and compete to outlast each other in an incredibly harsh environment.

Isaiah Tuck is a West Virginia Game Warden and Air National Guardsman from Ghent who appears on season 11 of Alone, airing now.

Tuck said he had one main reason for doing the show.

“As far as my reasoning why… It’s my bride. My wife Jessie, and my modern-day miracle is my two-year-old daughter. Her name’s Caroline and… everything, absolutely everything I do is for them,” said Tuck.

Being utterly alone one hundred and twenty-five miles above the Arctic Circle certainly falls under the umbrella of “everything.”

But this is not Tuck’s first attempt at getting on the show.

“I’ve wanted to be on the show since season three. I’ve been applying since season three. And finally they just took notice two years ago and there was about forty thousand applicants in 2022. And I got accepted, but then I ended up getting deployed for the Air National Guard,” explained Tuck.

Tuck got his chance on the current season, though, and four episodes in, he is still going strong!

Tuck said that the going was rough, especially in terms of finding enough food.

Luckily, there were plenty of snacks around his shelter similar to ones we would find here in West Virginia.

“Taste like little lemon drops! See, little ant. That little guy. Yep, does he do it? Is the question,” Tuck said immediately before eating a black ant from off the ground.

Tuck said his favorite food he had while he was out there were two juicy, salty…squirrel eyeballs.

He did miss several West Virginia favorites though!

“Wanted some good old West Virginia pepperoni rolls. That was killing me. I thought about pepperoni rolls a lot and Mountain Dew. And just think about my favorite restaurants, you know, like China One in Sophia or something like that, you know,” said Tuck.

Hiking in high heat; how to keep yourself safe

Tuck is now back home in Ghent and eager for everyone to see him on the show.

“It’s a good opportunity to represent West by God,” he said, “and hopefully, those that tune in will be happy with how it shows up.”
