Star-Studded Screwball Comedy Series On Netflix Is The Perfect Prequel
The prequel series to a cult classic parody of a certain type of 80s comedy, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day at Camp, is a masterpiece of silliness. It reunites the cast of the original movie, many of whom went on to become A-list actors or beloved comedians, making it one of the best casts a Netflix show has ever had. Like the original movie, it’s a whacky, intentionally dumb romp that outshines the original.
Star Trek: Voyager Episode Everyone Hated Is Loved By Showrunner
Normally, Star Trek series are ensemble productions both in front of and behind the cameras. In addition to the talented cast, each show has an amazing writing and production staff that brings these episodes to life. Normally, everyone is on the same page, but the Voyager episode “Ex Post Facto” was unique because it was beloved by showrunner Michael Piller and hated by almost everyone else.
The X-Files Star Who Gave Their Children Nightmares By Showing The Best Episode
When Gillian Anderson decided it was time to show her kids The X-Files, she chose her personal favorite episode–the hilarious “Bad Blood.” In spite of Anderson feeling confident that the kids could handle it since they’d seen all the Harry Potter films–and since “Bad Blood” is pretty tame comparatively–her children had nightmares for weeks about what she called, “this stupid flying vampire kid who delivers pizzas.”
Netflix Fantasy Adventure Classic Is An R-Rated Delight
Sometimes, a single film can propel an actor from relative obscurity to superstardom in the entertainment world. Sylvester Stallone had Rocky, Paul Newman had The Hustler, and Arnold Schwarzenegger had Conan the Barbarian. The 1982 film made Schwarzenegger an A-list film star in the action genre. Conan The Barbarian. Conan...
Star Trek Episode Almost Filmed In Black And White
If you mention “Star Trek” and “black and white” in the same sentence, fans are likely to think of The Original Series–specifically, the episode “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield,” which criticized racism by pointing out the absurdity of aliens with half-white, half-black faces persecuting those who had their colors on the “wrong” side. However, the later Trek series Voyager experimented with black-and-white storytelling, mostly through the Captain Proton holodeck program that Tom Paris loved so much. Long before the introduction of Captain Proton, though, the first season Star Trek: Voyager episode “Ex Post Facto” was nearly shot entirely in black and white.
Bloody 1980s Spy Action Anime Made Cinema History, Stream Right Now
When you think of animation in the 80s, you probably think of Transformers, Thundercats, or maybe one of the imported anime series, like Voltron. What you don’t think of is the adult-oriented bloody thriller Golgo 13: The Professional, a 1983 Japanese anime film that took 10 years to come to the West because of its graphic content. Cartoons in the West, after all, were for kids, not for adults, but this film was one of the first to shatter that outdated mode of thought.
Supernatural Creator Teases The Boys Reunion
Eric Kripke created the long-running Supernatural way back in 2005 and has since found another majorly successful series with The Boys. Kripke has also been more than happy to bring back some Supernatural actors to his critically acclaimed show, including Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Jim Beaver as Robert Singer, and, most recently, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe Kessler.
Horror Anthology From Psycho Creator Is ’70s Best Kept Secret, Stream Without Netflix
Amicus Productions released a series of horror anthology films throughout the 1960s and 1970s to such a degree of success that this type of feature became the studio’s mainstay. Piggybacking off the massive success of Doctor Terror’s House of Horrors in 1965, the studio decided to have another go at the horror vignettes, this time using Psycho novelist Robert Bloch for the screenwriter. The House That Dripped Blood gives horror fans four chilling tales of terror that can now be streamed for free.
The Embarrassing Tombstone Of Fox Mulder In The X-Files
The X-Files took many twists and turns over the years, including the death and resurrection of Fox Mulder. This led to us briefly seeing the intrepid FBI Agent’s very plain tombstone, one that he shared with the other deceased members of his immediate family. However, in the original script for the season 1 episode “Shadows,” Mulder revealed a surprising request about his grave: he wanted his tombstone to have the embarrassing epithet “no regrets.”
Crime Procedural With Battlestar Galactica Star Has The Most Realistic Premise Ever
Following the end of Battlestar Galactica, the cast went off to new projects; Grace Park joined Hawaii 5-0, Katee Sackhoff did movies, and then settled into Longmire, but another of the main cast became the lead of their own series. Mary McDonnell, who played President Laura Roslin, went from recurring appearances on the TNT series The Closer to becoming the star of its sequel series, Major Crimes. Unlike nearly every other police procedural in history, the series focused on the worst part of law enforcement: keeping the budget under control.
Vampires Run A Nursery In Upcoming Dark Fantasy Anime
Summer 2024 offers quite a few impressive anime and returns on favorites. However, none are quite as interesting and unique as Delico’s Nursery, a story focused on vampires and children in this dark fantasy anime. Delico’s Nursery is a spin-off of TRUMP, a gothic stage play created by Kenichi...
Doctor Who Finale Secretly Kills The Best Companion?
Recently, Doctor Who aired the first finale of the Disney+ era, and it was generally considered a major success. Fans enjoyed having Russell T. Davies back as showrunner, especially because he knows how to expertly weave the humor and heartbreak the series is known for. He might have secretly done...
The Bloodiest Martial Arts Movie Ever Is On Criterion Channel And It Will Explode Your Brain
Live-action anime/manga adaptations are the hot new thing thanks to successful projects like Netflix’s One Piece, but if you go way back to 1991, you’ll find an exceedingly gory and underseen manga adaptation called Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky. If you’re a fan of over-the-top martial arts mixed with plenty of blood, then this film is definitely worth the watch. And, of all places, you can stream it on The Criterion Channel if you’re interested.
Baby Driver 2 Actually Happening With The Most Important Person
The 2017 film Baby Driver was a great Edgar Wright film that included everything Wright does best. Now, reports are saying that Wright is all set to make Baby Driver 2 his next project after he finishes the upcoming Running Man. The reports also say that Jon Bernthal’s character will be a much bigger part of the sequel.
Bees Detect Cancer In Humans
Bees are truly amazing creatures that enable flowers to bloom through pollination, which produces fruits and vegetables. Bees can navigate using the sun on even cloudy days by using their natural abilities to judge light angles. New evidence also shows honeybees can detect lung cancer. Super Smell. Bees have a...
The Most Popular New Anime Of The Year Is Coming Back For Season 2
Wind Breaker roared onto the spring anime scene this year, and now it’s been officially greenlit for a second season. The show outperformed expectations, and fans will undoubtedly be excited to hear that it’s coming back for more. Best of all, we already have a release window, as Crunchyroll confirmed that the second installment is scheduled for 2025.
New Netflix Inspiring Anime Makes the Most Boring Sport Exciting
Netflix has never been more loving to anime fans than it is now, with more and more anime content reaching the platform. In June, the world’s largest streamer became home to one of the best sports anime that managed to turn the boring sport it focuses on into an exciting sports activity. Of course, we’re referring to Rising Impact.
The Naked Man Who Tried To Shut Down The X-Files
The X-Files is a show filled with memorable foes who tried to shut down Mulder’s investigations, including the notorious Cigarette Smoking Man. However, the fiercest foe was arguably someone we never even saw onscreen but who would do anything to stop the show itself. During the production of the episode “Shadows,” the X-Files crew broke a local curfew, resulting in a naked man coming out onto his porch and spewing endless obscenities in an attempt to drive the crew away.
Subversive Stand-Up Special Is A Masterclass In Hack Comedy, Watch Right Now
As somebody who spends every moment of his life trying to be funny (it doesn’t work), I watch and listen to an unhealthy amount of stand-up comedy. After a while, I feel like every single special on streaming seems to offer the same thing, I become desensitized to the jokes, and find myself not laughing because I’ve heard it all before. When I found out about An Evening with Tim Heidecker, everything changed because he reinvented the genre by putting out the most deliberately terrible hour-long special that just so happens to be the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in a very long time.
The Nasty Secret Behind Star Wars’ Simplest Prop
Star Wars has filled its galaxy far, far away with cool props, some of which have the strangest origins. However, the origin of one prop is downright nasty, and it may have spawned an even nastier (albeit completely hilarious) joke in the hit Max show Peacemaker. The prop we’re talking about is the Ewok bait Chewbacca falls for in Return of the Jedi, which is a taxidermied deer butt with teeth added inside it.
