Adams County Fairfest opening ceremonies
HASTINGS — The Adams County Fairfest opening ceremonies were held during the evening of Wednesday, July 15. The master of ceremonies for the event was Y102’s Lisa Williams. There were welcomes from the agricultural society delivered by Williams; Lee Hogan represented Adams County and Mayor Corey Stutte spoke for the City of Hastings.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A three-vehicle crash happened Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Webb Road and State St. Capt. Dean Elliot of the Grand Island Police Department said a northbound vehicle was turning left onto State St. when it collided with a southbound vehicle, The collision then pushed into a third car.

Hope Harbor looking for more participants in ‘Hunting for Hope’
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Hope Harbor is hosting their annual fundraiser, ‘Hunting for Hope’ on Saturday, July 20. It’s a scavenger hunt throughout Grand Island with the proceeds going towards Hope Harbor’s operating costs. Their original goal was to get 30 teams registered; currently they only have half of that amount. There could be a few factors affecting this.
New GICC elementary school ready to welcome students
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – The new Catholic elementary school in Grand Island is one month away from opening its doors and everything is set for the school year. “We were not expecting that much. In the initial phases of this project we thought maybe the projections were that we would see 95 to 100 students. And then as excitement built and people kept enrolling that number just kept increasing,” said superintendent and principal Jordan Engle.

Anthony Copley, 21, pleaded no contest earlier this year to attempted possession of a firearm during a commission of a felony and terroristic threats, both felony charges.

Central Nebraska Man Sentenced for Unlawful Firearm Possession
United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced that Tesluach Gatkuoth, 27, of Grand Island, NE, was sentenced July 17, 2024, in federal court in Omaha, Nebraska for being a felon in possession of a firearm. United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher sentenced Gatkuoth to 120 months’ imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. After Gatkuoth’s release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.
