FORD COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A new solar farm seems to have the green light in Ford County — at least from the Zoning Board.

Earthrise Energy had the idea to build a solar farm next to their peaking plant on the outskirts of Gibson City. Wednesday night, with a 5-0 vote, the board recommended the solar project.

Officials said the project construction would need to begin within a year’s time and finish within three years.

The Zoning Appeals Board said the contract is good for 40 years, then it can be revisited as long as it passes the full board next meeting.
