Your vote in the primary election July 30 is essential. Really important. Your vote will determine our town's next mayor. That's right! You will have thrown away your shot if you wait until November's general election to vote for mayor and town council.

Gilbert's town council race is nonpartisan, which means that, under certain conditions, a candidate running for mayor will be declared elected when they receive a majority of votes in the primary election. This year's election offers such conditions, as only two candidates are running for one mayoral seat; there will be one candidate with a majority in the primary.

Local elections need our attention more than ever, as voter apathy is an increasing concern. Local elections determine the leaders who directly impact crucial matters such as zoning regulations, local taxes, parks and recreation, public safety and much more. These officials directly affect the quality of life in your neighborhood, from business attraction and retention efforts to the condition of roads to the availability of community services. You have a say in managing and allocating these resources by voting in local elections.

Participating in local elections is not just a civic duty; it is a powerful way to shape Gilbert's future and ensure that your voice is heard on issues that directly impact your life. Every vote counts as we work to uphold the values and reputation of our community — a business-friendly town where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
