Gilbert is seeking residents' ideas, suggestions and wish list items for Desert Sky Park during the month of July.

All the new information gathered will be used along with previous feedback provided by the community to help the town transform Desert Sky Park into a destination for families in the coming years.

Desert Sky Park, located off Power Road just south of Williams Field Road, is the newest addition to Gilbert’s parks. It covers 110 acres of land in the Rittenhouse Basin.

The park serves two purposes: flood control and storm water retention, as well as park and recreation amenities. The park’s development is being planned in multiple phases, with phase one already complete.

Now through July 31, residents can give feedback to the design team for Desert Sky Park through two ways. Gilbert residents can do both options  — you don’t have to choose one or the other.

    Post on Ideas Wall

The first is by submitting thoughts to the town's "Ideas Wall," providing feedback on physical amenities/needs, recreation program suggestions, usage for events/festivals, and other issues of concern.

Once a person submits an idea, he or she can return to the Ideas Wall periodically to see community reaction to the suggestion and keep the conversation going. Gilbert welcomes productive, insightful commentary to help develop a vision for the future.

    Take survey

Gilbert residents can also take a short survey to contribute to the planning process for Desert Sky Park. The questionnaire focuses on future park amenities and results from the survey will be used in the designing and planning process for phase two.
