    Prop 497 and Prop 498 will appear on the 2024 General Election ballot for Gilbert voters this fall. Both propositions are related to the state-imposed expenditure limit.

    The propositions will allow for:

    • A Permanent Base Adjustment to the town's current expenditure limit;
    • A Capital Projects Accumulation Fund exemption that would exclude capital improvement projects from the expenditure limit .

    Voters do not have to choose one or the other but can approve both questions.

    Approval of these two items is not a tax increase and will not change Gilbert’s revenues. Gilbert will still be required to have a balanced budget each year.

    The Gilbert Clerk’s Office is accepting pro/con arguments for the general election publicity pamphlet through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2024.

      • Arguments cannot exceed 300 words in length.
      • Must contain a sworn statement with the original signature(s) of each person sponsoring the argument.
      • Must include the address and phone number for each signer. This information will not be printed in the pamphlet.
      • A payment of $200.00 per argument is required to offset a portion of the cost of paper and printing the pamphlet. To pay online, please submit payment here .

    Pro/Con arguments must be submitted by the deadline via email to ClerksOffice#@gilbertaz.gov , or submitted to the Gilbert Town Clerk’s Office at 50 E. Civic Center, Gilbert, AZ 85296.

    The 2024 General Election will be held Nov. 5, 2024.
