Desert Hills High School, part of The Leona Group school district, has begun its new school year, which promises a blend of academic excellence, extracurricular diversity and unique learning experiences.

Using its student-centered approach, Desert Hills ensures that every student is known by face, name and family, fostering a close-knit and supportive community.

Desert Hills offers an array of programs that cater to varied interests and career aspirations. One of the school's features is its emphasis on music, sports and entrepreneurial studies.

Desert Hills has multi-disciplinary programs designed to help students maximize their potential.

DHHS instructors were recently acknowledged in an East Valley news campaign, with English instructor Kahri O’Brien voted the Best High School Teacher in Gilbert by readers.

DHHS Instructor Jesus Grajeda was also awarded by voters in the contest, as among the city’s best teachers. And Desert Hills was named one of the top charter schools in Gilbert.

In an initiative to broaden academic horizons, Desert Hills has partnered with the National Education Equity Lab. This collaboration enables students to earn free college credits from institutions such as Arizona State, Harvard and Howard universities.

Moreover, the school’s partnership with the East Valley Institute of Technology  opens doors to an array of vocational courses. From advanced technical training to hands-on trade skills, DHHS students can explore diverse career pathways, ensuring they are well-equipped for the future job market.

Beyond academics, Desert Hills High School offers extracurriculars. Students can immerse themselves in a variety of clubs, including drama, gaming and anime, art and more.

These clubs provide a platform for students to pursue their passions, develop new skills and build lasting friendships.

DHHS provides free transportation and meals to all students, ensuring that every child can benefit from the school's offerings without financial strain.

"We are excited about the upcoming school year and the opportunities we will be providing," said Josh Boyle, Desert Hills High School curriculum specialist. "Our commitment to knowing each student personally and offering a wide range of programs ensures that every student can thrive academically and personally."

As the new school year approaches, Desert Hills High School invites prospective students and their families to experience DHHS firsthand.

Those interested can contact the office at 480-813-1151 to schedule a tour or go to the school’s website, at www.deserthillshs.com , for more information.

Desert Hills High School is located at 1515 S. Val Vista Drive in Gilbert.
