Lauderdale County homicide suspect arrested after Pearl traffic stop
Officers said the driver of a Chevy Camaro was stopped for speeding about 1 a.m. A check revealed the driver, Onorious Earl Campbell, was wanted for homicide out of Lauderdale County. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to the Rankin County Jail.

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The latest U.S Drought Monitor is out, and conditions have gone downhill compared to last week. Last week, most of our area was shaded in yellow which indicated ‘Abnormally Dry’ conditions. This week, most of the area is shaded in tan which indicates an official ‘Moderate Drought’. Meridian, specifically, has a rainfall deficit for August that’s around 4 inches.... very dry.

Alabama gas prices down 54 cents compared to same time last year
(The Center Square) — Going into Labor Day weekend, Alabama's gas prices are down 54 cents compared to last year and are fifth-lowest nationally, according to data from the American Automobile Association. AAA says the Yellowhammer State's statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.96, down from $3.02 last week and down 13.5% compared to the same time last year, when the average price was $3.42. The highest recorded average price for Alabama occurred on June 14, 2022 at $4.63 per gallon. ...
