Businesses across the country are looking to hire, but there’s something standing in the way – the housing shortage. Employees can’t accept jobs in different cities because there aren’t enough homes for them to relocate to. The United States is about 4.5 million houses short, and in Wisconsin, they need at least 140,000 new housing units by 2030. Woman who collapsed in Chippewa Co. Jail declared brain dead
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A woman who collapsed in the Chippewa County Jail last week has now been declared brain dead. Chippewa County Coroner Ron Patten told the Leader-Telegram on Friday that the woman was declared brain dead at an area hospital either late Thursday night or Friday morning. Patten said the woman was being left on life support systems while seeing if she will become an organ donor. ...

Southern Wisconsin is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center. The watch will be in effect from Sunday afternoon until early Monday morning. The area covered by the watch spans around 60 miles north and south of a line extending from 45 miles south-southwest of Mason City, Iowa, to 55 miles south of Racine, Wisconsin.
