Baldwin promotes $4 million grant for Wisconsin healthcare apprenticeships
MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin said Friday she helped deliver $4 million for the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin, aimed at building out their healthcare specific apprenticeship programs.
Big Lots is closing 35-40 stores. What Wisconsin stores could be affected?
The Ohio-based discount retail chain Big Lots announced plans to close 35 to 40 stores this year amidst financial challenges and a tough consumer market. In a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the retailer said it planned to close 35 to 40 stores this year and open three. The company reported 1,392 operating stores at the start of 2024, down from 1,425 in the first quarter of 2023.
North Woods Summer Art Tour set for July 26
The Northwoods long awaited summer is here (most days), so that means the North Woods Summer Art Tour is coming soon. Wisconsin’s finest artists will open their doors to their studios and galleries for visitors Friday July 26 through Sunday 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This unique, self-directed studio tour in Vilas, Oneida, Iron, and Lincoln counties offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the creative process firsthand by visiting artist studios, interacting with creators, and witnessing their craft come to life. Brochures, studio descriptions, driving directions, and a map are available at area businesses, chambers of commerce, and online at northwoodsarttour.com. The tour is free to all. The Art Tour began in 2000 featuring 20 artists. This year’s tour has 44 artists at 35 studios. Guests will find unique items for gifts and for inspiration to elevate their spirits.
